The short answer
Yes, PrecisionFix repairs heating and cooling systems throughout Newark, Fremont, Union City, Hayward, and the unincorporated communities nearby, with 24/7 emergency service available. Bay Area Air District rules do not force you to replace a working furnace, so repair is often a reasonable first step.
PrecisionFix HVAC Repair Service repairs furnaces, heat pumps, and air conditioners for homeowners across southern and central Alameda County, from Newark and Fremont up through Union City, Hayward, San Lorenzo, Cherryland, Fairview, and Ashland. Our base in Palo Alto is about 19 miles away, so we schedule regular routes into the county. We also offer 24/7 emergency service when a system stops working at night or on a weekend.
What We Repair
Most calls start with a simple complaint: no heat, weak airflow, a strange noise, or a system that runs constantly without reaching the set temperature. We find the cause, explain it in plain terms, and tell you what the fix involves before we start work.
- Gas furnaces that won't ignite, short-cycle, or blow cold air
- Heat pumps that ice up, won't switch modes, or lose capacity
- Central air conditioners that run but don't cool
- Thermostat, wiring, and control board problems
- Blower motors, capacitors, and airflow issues
- Ductwork leaks and rooms that never get comfortable
Repair or Replace? How Local Air Rules Fit In
Alameda County is in the Bay Area Air District, which has adopted rules that change what new gas appliances must look like. Those rules do not require you to replace equipment that still works. They apply only when an existing furnace or water heater fails or is replaced.
Gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 on must meet a zero-NOx emission standard, which in practice points homeowners toward heat pumps when a furnace is replaced after that date. If your furnace is aging, we can help you weigh a repair now against planning for a heat pump later.
For small water heaters, the zero-NOx date was set for 2027, but the Air District Board is considering amendments in November 2026 that could delay it. If a water heater replacement is on your list, check the current rule before you plan.
Incentives and Tax Credits
The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It is not available for new installations after that date.
Bay Area homeowners can still check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change by funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before including it in any quote.

What to Expect on a Service Call
When you call, we ask what the system is doing, how old it is, and whether it's gas or electric, so the technician arrives with the right parts when possible. On site, we test the system, show you what we found, and give you your options. You decide whether to go ahead before any repair begins.
